On this, Member of the European Parliament Anja Arndt, member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), Anja Arndt, states:
“When the EU imposes new rules on industry, they must be clear and practical. Until now, the calculation of emission credits was unnecessarily complicated because it had to be based on a theoretical downward path of emissions over several years. The new amendment now makes it clear: if the emissions of a manufacturer fleet are below the CO2 target value, emission credits arise. This simplifies the calculation and creates planning certainty.”
Member of the European Parliament Volker Schnurrbusch, member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), adds:
“The European commercial vehicle sector is facing international competition while also having to make massive investments in new technologies. In this situation, companies need planning certainty instead of additional regulatory uncertainty. The fast-track procedure is therefore an important signal for a realistic and industry-friendly policy.”
