European Parliament clearly commits to strong air passenger rights

The European Parliament has voted by a large majority in favor of strong air passenger rights. Volker Schnurrbusch, Member of the European Parliament, comments:

“It does not happen often that there is good news coming out of the ‘Europe Parliament’. Strengthening air passenger rights is one of these rare exceptions. Airline customers must be able to rely on receiving appropriate compensation in the event of significant delays. It is equally right that Parliament has resisted attempts by the Commission and the Council to water down these proven rules. Clearly defined exemptions from liability in cases of flight cancellations create much-needed legal certainty for passengers.

With all due understanding for the difficult situation in the aviation sector as a result of excessive Covid measures and the ideologically driven ‘Green Deal’ of the European Union, it must not be accepted that passengers are burdened with ever more fees, for example for hand luggage or check-in. Flying is more popular than ever, despite all the moral lecturing from left-green eco-ideologues. Rising passenger numbers, new providers, and affordable prices demonstrate the sector’s dynamism. Strong air passenger rights round off this positive overall picture. The ESN Group stands firmly on the side of consumers and will work to ensure they can fully assert their rights.”
