Votes on emissions, gender strategy and data centralisation

The Commission wants a 90% emissions-reduction target by 2040, which would raise energy bills, increase pressure on industry and endanger jobs.

🧩 The new Gender Strategy takes an openly activist approach, importing concepts that do not reflect reality.

🗂 A new EU framework would centralise sensitive information on citizens and households in a single system managed from Brussels, paving the way for data centralisation and weaker safeguards.

We support environmental responsibility and reality-based social policy, protect the family, defend privacy and democratic control and insist on respect for national competences. These risks will also be highlighted at our ESN Study Days in Budapest (17–19 November).

Even though the EU pushed several problematic texts today, there is also good news:

💼 The “Sustainability Omnibus” has passed — a first brake on Green Deal overreach, as a new right-of-centre majority rolls back reporting obligations and frees companies from excessive documentation that drains resources and undermines competitiveness. This vote marks a change of course away from ever-expanding bureaucracy and towards economic common sense, relief for businesses and more room for entrepreneurship!
