ESN defends political pluralism

The European Parliament voted to request an investigation into the Europe of Sovereign Nations Party by the Authority for European Political Parties and Foundations (APPF). ESN rejected the move, stressing that political disagreements must be settled through democratic debate and elections, not administrative procedures against political parties.

Parliament rejects GMO import renewals

ESN supported successful objections against extending import authorisations for genetically modified maize and soybean. The vote reflects concerns over long-term health and environmental risks, the precautionary principle and the need to ensure fair standards for European farmers.

ESN rejects expansion of the EU carbon border tax

The Environment Committee backed plans to expand the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to more everyday products and create a global decarbonisation fund financed by the new revenues. ESN opposes higher costs for consumers, additional burdens on industry and further climate-driven taxation.

Europe’s automotive industry needs competitiveness, not ideology

During Parliament’s debate on the automotive sector, ESN called for technology neutrality, lower energy costs and less bureaucracy instead of ideological climate policies. The Group warned that current EU regulations are accelerating deindustrialisation and putting jobs and Europe’s industrial base at risk.

🤝 Trade with Mexico should focus on business, not ideology

ESN supports the economic opportunities of the modernised EU-Mexico Agreement, including lower trade barriers and stronger protection for European geographical indications. At the same time, the Group rejects the inclusion of climate, gender and sustainability conditions as well as additional bureaucratic governance structures.

✈️ Passenger rights strengthened through balanced compromise

ESN supported the compromise on the reform of EU passenger rights, welcoming practical improvements for travellers such as greater transparency on baggage fees, better compensation procedures and stronger protections for families and passengers with disabilities. The agreement strikes a balanced compromise between consumer protection and a competitive aviation sector.

📉 Brussels continues to expand regulation instead of solving Europe’s real problems

This week’s votes again showed the EU’s tendency towards more bureaucracy, more centralisation and greater interference in citizens’ lives. ESN continues to advocate freedom, democratic accountability, competitive industries and policies that put European citizens first.
