According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the country’s public budgets closed the year 2024 with a deficit of 107 billion euros, despite record tax revenues of 1.035 trillion euros. Record borrowing of more than 98 billion euros is being channeled exclusively into ideological projects: a whopping 50 billion euros per year for migration and asylum, around 35 billion euros for the energy phase-out, roughly 3.3 billion euros for e-mobility, and more than 10 billion euros in net contributions to the EU.
Petr Bystron, the ESN Group’s spokesperson on European affairs, commented:
“The state is collecting record taxes from citizens and still taking on new debt. This is not a revenue problem, but a spending problem caused by misguided political decisions. Billions are flowing into ideological projects and into support for foreign nationals, while roads, bridges, and schools are falling into disrepair. Instead of ever new deficits, Germany needs debt reduction, tax relief for taxpayers, and targeted investment in its own infrastructure.”
