A request has been filed to lift the parliamentary immunity of AfD Member of the European Parliament Petr Bystron. The investigations are based on allegations for which, despite 21 house searches, no credible evidence has been presented so far. The AfD delegation considers the process politically motivated and sees it as an attempt to discredit a committed European politician. On this matter, ESN Group MEP Petr Bystron himself declares:
“The planned withdrawal of my immunity is not a procedure in accordance with the rule of law, but a targeted political maneuver. The fact that 21 searches have not yielded a single substantial piece of evidence illustrates the baselessness of the accusations. We are witnessing a coordinated campaign to criminalize my peace-oriented views. While in the USA under President Trump, destabilization networks such as USAID are being uncovered and curtailed, the EU is actively participating in the persecution of opposition voices.
The public prosecutor should not investigate the victims of this campaign, but its masterminds. I stand for peace, freedom of expression, and an independent judiciary. Germany must return to democracy and the rule of law.”
