In this context, Member of the European Parliament and foreign-policy spokesman Petr Bystron states:
“The Social Democrats have lost touch with geopolitical reality. While the world is developing into a multipolar order, the S&D cling to outdated power structures from the last century. They want international politics to take place exclusively within established UN formats and fail to recognise the dynamics of our time.
Moral imperialism runs in the Left’s veins. They constantly lecture other states with a wagging finger, speak of values but mean control. This very values imperialism has pushed Europe to the margins internationally, undermined our credibility, and narrowed our room for manoeuvre.
Instead of demonising new diplomatic initiatives, the EU should strive for constructive participation. Diplomacy means keeping channels of communication open in all directions, not remaining stuck in old patterns. Europe needs a confident foreign policy guided by its interests.
It is high time for politics in Europe’s interest. No more ideological one-sidedness, but realism, strategic thinking, and the willingness to speak with all relevant actors. Only in this way can Europe safeguard its own interests and contribute to genuine stability.”
