Germany to Pay for the Continuation of the War in Ukraine

According to plans by the EU’s chief diplomat Kaja Kallas, €40 billion are to be allocated for the continued armament of Ukrainian armed forces. Her proposal includes joint financing based on a distribution key that takes into account the gross national income of each EU member state. Following the latest Russian attacks, the proposal is once again gaining attention among several member states.

MEP Petr Bystron of the ESN group commented:

“The EU wants to finance the Ukrainian war machinery with another €40 billion – and Germany is supposed to pay for it. Under Ms. Kallas’s distribution key, Germany would bear the lion’s share, meaning German taxpayers would be disproportionately burdened. We reject that. Instead of Germany supplying money for ammunition and prolonging the dying, we as the AfD delegation are calling for a diplomatic solution. Not a single additional euro of German taxpayer money should go to Ukraine!

This is all the more true now that the United States under President Trump is advocating for a negotiated solution to the conflict. It is disturbing that the EU so stubbornly refuses to recognize the signs of the times and contribute to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.”
