In Yerevan, Armenia, an international conference ‘Euronest’ was held from 27–30.10, supposed to bring together Members of the European Parliament and Members of the national Parliaments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. Georgia decided to boycott the conference because of unnecessary provocations by the European Parliament. The Member of the European Parliament from the ESN Group, Irmhild Boßdorf, stated:

“While the European Parliament claims this was ‘a decision by Georgia itself’, the European Parliament decided in a secret decision by a small ‘Bureau’ to invite left-liberal Georgian NGOs (‘Non-Governmental Organisations’) funded by the EU, and this is what caused the boycott.”

In a letter, the Georgian government writes: “Euronest must reflect on whether its present path truly strengthens regional cooperation or burns the partnership bridges down. Its over-politicised approach undermines the credibility of the Assembly and the integrity of the broader partnership between the European Union and its associated states.”

The Member of the European Parliament Boßdorf further stated: “International relations should indeed be based on pragmatism and respect for the choices of other peoples and nations and not on the left-liberal views the EU tries to impose with NGOs everywhere.”
