Track record

Key Achievements.

Since the beginning of the mandate, PETI has become one of the committees in which ESN has helped build centre-right majorities with ECR, PfE and parts of the EPP. Petras Gražulis cast the decisive vote securing the election of the PETI Chair from ECR. Marcin Sypniewski, as ESN coordinator and shadow rapporteur on the committee’s annual reports, has led the Group’s work on reports, resolutions and strategic petitions. ESN also played a leading role in advancing Parliament’s resolution on protecting EU companies, jobs and products against unfair competition from third countries and promoted pluralism during hearings on European Citizens’ Initiatives.

Outlook

Looking Ahead.

PETI’s agenda will be shaped by high-profile petitions testing how effectively EU law protects citizens and ensures transparency and accountability. Priority files include the Annual Report on PETI Activities 2025 and the European Ombudsman’s Annual Report 2025. ESN will continue to encourage petitions from across the Union, improve geographical balance and give greater visibility to concerns that are often overlooked in European debate.
