Committee JURI rejects left-wing opinion to Rule of Law report with 12 votes against 11 – Vote of ESN-MEP Mary Khan was decisive

The JURI committee of the European Parliament has yesterday rejected a draft opinion to LIBE’s ‘Rule of Law’ report with 12 votes against and only 11 in favour. So the one vote of ESN against the report, cast by MEP Mary Khan, was decisive.

The JURI opinion to the LIBE report on Rule of Law is every year a long list of bad left-wing ideas. This year’s text wanted to:

• give free legal aid for all illegal aliens;

• express support for the Digital Services Act (that organises censorship in the EU against free speech on social media);

• ask quicker and harsher sanctions against Hungary (because it defends its sovereignty and borders);

• ask the European Commission to ‘engage even more with civil society organisations’, after the scandal where the Commission paid millions of euros to left-wing NGOs to lobby members of parliament for the Green Deal that destroyed our businesses.

But all of this was rejected today. On this, Member of the European Parliament Mary Khan stated:

“This vote is a small but important signal: The European Parliament is not a rubber stamp for ideological reports. There is growing resistance against politicised ‘Rule of Law’ campaigns!”
