The ESN Group has submitted a motion for a European Parliament resolution calling for a strong and united response to what it sees as Germany’s departure from financial stability. The initiative highlights concerns over Germany’s use of “Sondervermögen” (special funds) and its potential impact on EU fiscal rules and overall economic stability.

Alexander Jungbluth, Member of the European Parliament for the ESN Group and member of the BUDG Committee, stated:

“The debt binge we are currently witnessing in Germany endangers not only the country’s own stability but also that of the entire European financial system. That’s why, together with the European Parliament, we are calling on the Commission to take action to ensure that the Federal Republic of Germany complies with existing EU law and stops violating the Maastricht criteria.

If the European Parliament wants to maintain its credibility when it comes to upholding European rules and laws, our resolution must be taken seriously and negotiated across party lines. There can only be one conclusion: under the leadership of Friedrich Merz, the German government is not only jeopardizing the future of its own citizens and generations to come, but also playing with the financial and economic security of the entire Eurozone.”
