Meet the elected representatives of the ESN Group — 9 national delegations working across the European Parliament.
Introduction
The Members of the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group were elected in their own countries and sit in the European Parliament as national delegations. What unites them is a shared conviction: that decisions belonging to the nation state should be taken there, and that cooperation between European countries rests on the consent of their peoples.
In Parliament the Group works to that end across the full range of legislative business, scrutinising proposals, tabling amendments and holding the institutions to account. Each delegation keeps its own mandate and its own priorities. The Group provides the structure through which they act together where those priorities align.
Mandate & Working Methods
Members hold a mandate from their voters, not from the Group. Their work is organised through the parliamentary committees, where legislative files are examined in detail before they reach the plenary, and through the national delegations, which set their own priorities and coordinate within the Group.
