EU pours taxpayer money into corrupt Palestinian structures

The EU has approved an aid package worth 1.6 billion euros for the Palestinian Authority. The funds are intended to support reforms, reconstruction, and administrative structures in the region, particularly in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The EU emphasizes that the money is tied to a willingness to reform — but no concrete conditions have been specified. Commenting on this, Alexander Jungbluth, MEP from the ESN group, states:

“Widespread corruption, barely functioning administration, and areas partly controlled by the radical Islamist Hamas — that’s where the EU wants to send 1.6 billion euros of European taxpayer money.

How the money will actually be used is almost impossible to monitor or even track transparently. While the EU talks about necessary reforms, it remains vague beyond that. As a general rule, aid to foreign countries should always be tied to the concept of remigration — in this case, the return of criminal and deportable Palestinians from Europe. That would actually be of help to Europe!”
