The amendment aimed to allocate €500,000 in commitments and €250,000 in payments to a premature project meant to tighten EU control over political communication. Promoted by Liberal MEP Sandro Gozi, the plan would have required registration of every political ad across the EU—posing risks of censorship and shifting authority from national bodies to unaccountable EU institutions.

This shows ESN’s role as a vital counterweight in Parliament
✅ For free speech ✅ For fair political competition ✅ Against unnecessary EU control over public discourse.
