Siegbert Droese (AfD/ESN): The EU wrecking-ball keeps merrily swinging – Germany slips from fifth to sixth place in Purchasing Power Parity

The new World Bank figures highlight a worrying trend for Germany. Rising living costs have pushed the country down from fifth to sixth place worldwide in the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) rankings. In the broader context of the global PPP table, Germany’s sixth place—behind China, the USA, India, Russia and Japan—reflects not only domestic economic challenges but also the relative strength of other major economies. AfD MEP and ECON-Committee member Siegbert Droese commented:

“No one is surprised that Germany is falling behind. The so-called energy transition, combined with the European Green Deal, ignores the impact of higher energy costs on Germany’s global competitiveness. The Commission has even removed the requirement to safeguard EU companies’ global competitiveness from the current draft of the Energy Taxation Directive.

This directive aims to further raise the cost of all ‘non-sustainable’ energy sources for European consumers and businesses. More and more people are beginning to realise that our prosperity is at odds with the climate religion, but only the ESN Group in the European Parliament says what must be done: the European Green Deal must be stopped!”
