“With his report on Israel, the EU Special Envoy for Human Rights demonstrates just how superfluous the entire system of EU envoys really is. While elections are being overturned in Europe and parties are threatened with bans, the Special Envoy is busy worrying about human-rights compliance in the Middle East.
At the same time, the von der Leyen Commission is sending hundreds of millions of euros in taxpayers’ money to Hamas-controlled authorities in Gaza or to the Islamist regime in Syria. The post of EU Special Envoy should be abolished, and the European Commission ought to represent Europeans’ interests instead of acting as a moral teacher to the world.”
