AfD MEP Bystron Responds to Bernd Posselt’s “Ban” Statement

In an interview with the Donaukurier, Bernd Posselt, chairman of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft, reaffirmed that the AfD is subject to a “ban” within the organization. Commenting on this, Petr Bystron, MEP of the ESN Group, stated:

“Bernd Posselt is merely trying to secure his own position within the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft by demonstratively excluding the AfD. He — just like the entire CDU — has long since abandoned the interests of the Sudeten Germans.

Today, the AfD is the only political force that credibly advocates for the concerns of the displaced, as the former president of the Federation of Expellees, Erika Steinbach, has repeatedly confirmed.

Posselt is attempting to co-opt the leadership of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft for the CSU. He fears being replaced by AfD politicians because the members clearly recognize that we represent their interests better than the CSU.

Thus, excluding the AfD is the only way for Posselt to maintain his position in the organization. Otherwise, he would be voted out here just as he was voted out of the European Parliament.

This is further confirmed by the timing of the first ‘ban’ — it was imposed ten years ago, immediately after Posselt lost his seat in the European Parliament due to the rise of the AfD.”
