Baerbock’s Election as UN President Highlights the UN’s Decline in Significance

On Monday, Annalena Baerbock was elected President of the United Nations. Commenting on this, Petr Bystron, MEP of the ESN Group, stated:

“As Foreign Minister, Baerbock repeatedly embarrassed Germany on the international stage. In January 2023, she claimed in the Council of Europe that we were in a ‘war against Russia’—a statement that caused global diplomatic irritation. Her remark calling China’s President a ‘dictator’ also drew international criticism.

The fact that someone like Baerbock can occupy this position reflects the complete insignificance of the UN. Major decisions in global politics are made through direct negotiations among the great powers, not in multilateral organizations like the UN.

As a farewell gift, Baerbock left Germany with 36,000 Afghans, many of whom were allegedly flown in illegally under her ministry’s initiatives. They are reported to be 723% more likely to commit crimes than Germans and have been involved in numerous cases of rape and murder.

It is unacceptable that, amid the societal and economic crises caused by the Greens, Germans must also finance her presidency with their tax money—paying her an annual salary of over 150,000 euros.

Instead of heading to New York, Baerbock belongs in the defendant’s seat in Germany.”
