Siegbert Droese, AfD Member of the European Parliament and member of the ECON Committee, stated:
“The current reports on the use of the so-called infrastructure special fund in Germany confirm what we in the AfD have criticised from the very beginning: this 500-billion-euro debt package is not an investment programme, but a gigantic shifting operation to finance and conceal political misjudgments.
What everyone suspected has now come to light: the Federal Government used the special fund to effectively circumvent the debt brake and secure financial leeway at the expense of future generations. To this end, a debt-financed shadow budget was created that undermines transparency, parliamentary oversight, and sound fiscal policy, while diverting gigantic sums of money from their actual purpose. Citizens were, de facto, deceived by the Federal Government about the true use of these funds.”
