DEBiography
René Aust is a German Member of the European Parliament, Co-Chair of the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group and Head of the AfD Delegation in the European Parliament. Elected in 2024, he is a member of Parliament’s Conference of Presidents and of the delegations to the OACPS-EU and Pacific-EU Parliamentary Assemblies.
He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geography with a focus on economic geography, including academic work on EU regional and structural policy and the economic geography of the euro crisis. Before entering the European Parliament, he served in the Landtag of Thuringia from 2019 to 2024. He is currently a substitute member of the committees responsible for employment and social affairs, industry and energy, and tax matters, as well as of the delegation for relations with Mercosur.
