Beslutet motiverades med flera p\u00e5st\u00e5dda \u00f6vertr\u00e4delser av lagen om digitala tj\u00e4nster, d\u00e4ribland vilseledande utformning av \u201cbl\u00e5 bock\u201d-funktioner, otillr\u00e4cklig insyn i annonsarkivet och bristf\u00e4llig tillg\u00e5ng till data f\u00f6r forskning. X riktade skarp kritik mot beslutet. Arno Bausemer, politiker med ansvar f\u00f6r EU-politik inom ESN-gruppen och ledamot av IMCO-utskottet, uttalade:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDenna b\u00f6ter p\u00e5 120 miljoner euro mot X \u00e4r ytterligare ett bevis p\u00e5 hur kommissionen missbrukar lagen om digitala tj\u00e4nster (DSA) som ett politiskt maktinstrument. DSA \u00e4r ett censurverktyg, varken mer eller mindre. I st\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att l\u00f6sa verkliga problem svingar Bryssel straffklubban mot en plattform eftersom man uppenbarligen ogillar den fria debatt som f\u00f6rs d\u00e4r.
