A Ge\u00f3rgia decidiu boicotar a confer\u00eancia devido a provoca\u00e7\u00f5es desnecess\u00e1rias por parte do Parlamento Europeu. A deputada ao Parlamento Europeu do Grupo ESN, Irmhild Bo\u00dfdorf, afirmou:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmbora o Parlamento Europeu afirme que se tratou de \u2018uma decis\u00e3o da pr\u00f3pria Ge\u00f3rgia\u2019, o Parlamento Europeu decidiu, numa decis\u00e3o secreta tomada por um pequeno \u2018Gabinete\u2019, convidar ONG georgianas de esquerda liberal (\u2018Organiza\u00e7\u00f5es N\u00e3o Governamentais\u2019) financiadas pela UE, e foi isso que motivou o boicote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Numa carta, o Governo georgiano escreve: \u201cA Euronest deve refletir sobre se o seu percurso atual refor\u00e7a verdadeiramente a coopera\u00e7\u00e3o regional ou se destr\u00f3i as pontes da parceria. A sua abordagem excessivamente politizada compromete a credibilidade da Assembleia e a integridade da parceria mais ampla entre a Uni\u00e3o Europeia e os seus Estados associados.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O deputado ao Parlamento Europeu Bo\u00dfdorf afirmou ainda: \u201cAs rela\u00e7\u00f5es internacionais devem, de facto, basear-se no pragmatismo e no respeito pelas escolhas de outros povos e
