De terughoudende reacties van China en Rusland tonen aan dat deze twee grootmachten de VS accepteren als de ordebepalende macht op de Amerikaanse continenten.<\/p>\n<p>Vanuit het perspectief van de machtspolitiek past de operatie in de traditie van Amerikaanse militaire interventies zonder VN-mandaat, zoals in Grenada in 1983 en Panama in 1989, Joegoslavi\u00eb in 1999 en Irak in 2003, of Libi\u00eb in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Op nationaal niveau zal de maatregel worden gepresenteerd als een succes in de strijd tegen illegale migratie en drugssmokkel.<\/p>\n<p>In de context van deze militaire interventies is de reactie van CDU-buitenlandpoliticus Kiesewetter, die de arrestatie omschrijft als het \u2018definitieve einde van de op regels gebaseerde orde\u2019, bijzonder belachelijk.<\/p>\n<p>Ook opmerkelijk is de reactie van de Hoge Vertegenwoordiger van de EU voor Buitenlandse Zaken, die in een verklaring alle betrokkenen oproept om \u2018kalm te blijven en terughoudendheid te betrachten\u2019.
